The Housing Affordability and Livability Advisory committee report is now out. You may have seen the many Seattle Times articles and TV news coverage that raise a number of issues including single family housing, zoning code changes, etc. While decisions will be made over an extended period of time by the city council, resident homeowners need to keep abreast and involved in the process. The University District is not a NIMBY as far as low income housing and density are concerned. The UPCC has supported the planned low income Bellweather Housing at NE 50th and 15th Ave NE and in progress LIHI Housing/new U. District foodbank (donated $100 to the foodbank capital funding campaign) at Roosevelt Ave NE and NE 50th next to our local library.
