Most of us in the U-District walk or bike every day — but our streets don’t always make it safe and comfortable. Ever dreamed of a U-District that’s great to walk, bike and live in?
University Greenways has been hard at work with the City to design and build a set of Neighborhood Greenways in our neighborhood — safe, low-cost and stress-free walking and biking corridors connecting us with the places we want to go.
In 2012, the Seattle Department of Transportation will fund or build Greenways in Wallingford, Beacon Hill, Ballard, North Delridge and Greenwood, with plans in 2013 to fund an initial community-driven Greenway in the University District.
We’ve been working closely with UW and community stakeholders to get things started. But we need your help to build broad community consensus around routes, and advocate for their planning and continued funding.
If you’re interested in getting involved in making a U-District where everyone can enjoy walking and bicycling, come join this kick-off community planning event.
At this event, you’ll learn about Neighborhood Greenways in the U-District and city-wide, and have a chance to contribute your ideas to a U-District network.
