Rudy,
Dave Rodgers put together a proposal to this year’s round of the Neighborhood Street Fund for a separated bike lane on the city right of way on the city right of way East of Ravenna Ave. NE.
The city is now in the “prioritization” phase of their public vetting of the project submitted. They want people to prioritize projects by “voting” for projects in their city council districts. Dave calls the process a “beauty contest,” which translates to getting our neighbors and others to give our project high priority, so we’re trying to enlist people from University Park, and other orgs. to go check out projects and “vote” for ours, among others.
Here’s a few words we’ve come up with and would appreciate if you would put on the UPCC site
Here’s a small email/notice I’ve put together. I hope you can put it up on UPCC.org this week because “voting” closes on 2/22.
Thanks Rudy,
Tim Rood
Notice-
Please vote online for safe biking next to, not on, Ravenna Ave. NE. Our short off-street trail links the Burke Gilman Trail, the 20th Street Bridge and Ravenna Boulevard bike lanes. That’s a big safety benefit to cyclists, yet it only involves building a few hundred yards of paved trail parallel to Ravenna Ave NE between NE 54th St and NE 58th St. We need your support to move forward. Prioritizing projects for the city’s Neighborhood Street Fund is easy and quick.
Go here http://www.seattle.gov/ transportation/projects-and- programs/programs/ neighborhood-street-fund,
And be sure to vote–online–by February 22.
For more info see our full project description: “Ravenna Ave NE Sidewalk and Bike Connection.” You’ll find it under District 4 projects. Click “Packet.”
