Proposed update to UPCC Bylaws

The University Park Community Club has been considering to open our membership to renters, who have lived for at least a year in our area. So far, only resident homeowners can be members. We want to be an inclusive organization, and with the changing demographics to more renters, we should reconsider our bylaws. While there have been a few opposing voices, we have heard more feedback in favor of this change, and all board members are supportive.

Here is the present passage in our bylaws:

Article III. Membership, Section 1.
Membership shall be open to all persons who both own and reside in structures within the boundaries of the club.

We propose to change this section to:

Article III. Membership, Section 1.
Membership shall be open to all persons who reside in structures within the boundary of the club. This includes resident homeowners, and renters who have lived in University Park for at least one year. Membership is per property parcel, as defined by the King County Assessor. Voting rights are limited to two votes per member parcel.
